Notes

This came out even nicer than I had imagined. I’m really pleased with it. And I even liked the yarn. I was a little concerned about that, as it has a lot of negative comments on here, but I had no problems with it, and the finished blanket is very nice – quite soft & drapey. I’m very happy about that, as it’s a yarn that I can get locally, without having to go online for it, which is definitely a plus.

I do have a few notes for next time, as I’d definitely like to make this again:

  • I carried the yarn up the sides instead of cutting it, even for the border. This meant that I started the border in a different place than instructed, but this really made no difference (I think I needed to start from the top right instead of the top left).
  • The bobbles were very difficult to execute without catching the yarn. There are many different ways to work a bobble, and I don’t know if my difficulty was due to the method or the yarn (I’ve never used either before), but the bobble rows were very slow going. I hardly ever was able to pull the yarn right through on the first try. I usually had to try several times for each bobble. This was rather frustrating, but I really do love how it turned out. I might try some different methods, but if they don’t come out looking the same, then I’d be willing to put up with it again.
  • The corners tend to pull in. I chained 3 instead of 2 for the corners on round 2 of the border, but I don’t think that was enough. I should have maybe chained 5 instead, or perhaps done three bobbles instead of a chain.
  • The pattern called for just one skein of white, but I needed a second, which I attached on Row 8 of rep #11.
  • I did 12 repeats in total.
