Notes

The first time I made this blanket, I had a lot of trouble with the bobbles, but I think that was due to the yarn I used. It must have been really splitty, because this time around, the bobbles were much easier to do – really no trouble at all.

The yarn for that first one was a better choice though, as far as the colors go. It was one of those times where the colors looked so much better together in the skein than they do when worked up. I had to cut & re-attach the print yarn several times to break up the pooling. The color sequence was exactly repeating for every bobble row, and I wanted to mix it up a bit. I didn’t realize that this yarn had such long color repeats. I’ve even used it before, but for some reason I thought it was more mottled, like the yarn I used last time.

The other note that I had from last time was that the corners tended to want to pull in, even though I did 3 instead of 2 chains in the corners of round 2. So this is what I did for the corners this time:
Round 1: 3 sc (as per pattern)
Round 2: ch-1, bobble, ch-1. The ch-1’s are in addition to the ch-1 after & before the surrounding bobbles. So from the last stitch before the corner to the first stitch after, it goes: Bobble in the last stitch, ch-2, bobble in the corner, ch-2, bobble in the first stitch. This is all in place of simply ch-2 per the pattern.
Round 3: 3 sc (w/2 sc in each of the ch-2 spaces before & after (all in place of simply 3 sc per the pattern).

Even after all of this, the corners still want to curl up, so I don’t know what the answer is. Maybe 5 sc on round 1?

Began with Fdc 157 instead of ch 159
3 reps of stripe pattern = approx. 3”
12 reps total.

When I started out, it was about 44” wide, but I tightened up over the course of it, so it ended up kind of lopsided, which seems to happen a lot with me.
