Notes

Mods:

  1. chose Malabrigo Rios over Rasta. opened skeins at LYS and chose 2 that were as different as possible for as much variation in color i could achieve.

  2. held yarn double. after swatching with 11, 13, & 15 needles, still opted for 15s.

  3. changed from YO stitch because i don’t like holes on the forehead smiley instead, opted for the diagonal stitch here. since i knit this for my 20-yr old son, he liked it better, too.

  1. CO was 48. just finagled the decreased to evenly decrease to 8 stitches at the end.

  2. added 15 extra rows to make it slouchy. he wears his beanies pulled toward the face, not straight down over the ears. the hat was too short for him to wear it the “millennial” way. ;)

  3. alway use German cast on for stretchier brim.

  4. basically, realized i didn’t knit the pattern except the garter ridges. didn’t use the yarn, didn’t use the decorative stitch, didn’t cast on the number of stitches, and didn’t knit the same height. laughing

  5. orange marker denotes where i started extra rows for slouchy height.
