Notes

I began with the Top-down No Math Hat Pattern and cast on 8 st because I didn’t want it to be so pointy at the top as suggested in that pattern. (And that by the way was a major failure on my part) I continued increasing 4 sts. every other row until there were 64 sts. (which was obviously where my mistake lied I increased only 4 st. instead of 8 st. each time) and added dropped stitches randomly as called for in the Scurlera pattern by placing a stitch marker 1 sts before the point where I wanted the drops stitch column. Then I K1 tbl to create a twisted stitch column, yo, k1 tbl. In the following rounds I, k to the stitch marker, k1tbl, k1, k1tbl. and repeated this for as long I thought the dropped stitch column should be. When I wanted to end a dropped stitch column I would k to the marker and remove marker, then k1tbl, drop the following stitch, k1tbl. The stitches then would unravel to the yo and stop there. After that I continued knitting in the round until the hat reached 9.5 in. in length and then bound off.

This was supposed to be a Christmas present for my oldest son, but since it turned out so pointy I couldn’t give it as a gift. I will probably just make another one for him using to correct increase.
