Finally finished this pair of socks. I find myself tempted to make myself a pair in Yummy - we’ll see how Meg likes them. The pattern came out pretty fun. I made the repeated twists on green for the first sock and pink for the second. Meg prefers variation.

This sock has been through the wars a bit. I had it down to the toe when I got the chance to have Meg try it on. She said it was a bit too small. The leg was OK, if marginal, but the foot was just too tight to be comfortable. I had noticed that I’d taken the sole down two stitches further than I meant to, and also that it would be a good idea to have another purl stitch added to separate the instep from the sole on the side without the purl. But whether three stitches would make enough difference, I was not sure. So I decided to go up to the next size of needles. I was using 2.5 mm, so I decided to go with 2.75 - and I just couldn’t find any. So I went ahead and ordered some Red Lace Chiao Goo needles. I have since knitted it through the toe, but I want Meg to try it on again before I cut the yarn.
I like how it’s coming, though. I love the heel - I did a variant of heel stitch that also maintains the K2, P1 ribbing. The arch shaping combined with the gusset went well, too. I think they’re going to be fine in the end.

One of the colorways Meg gave me to make socks from was Fickle, on Yummy. So I needed to make a pattern for 48 stitch socks. I decided to go with an idea that had been running round my brain for a while - K2, P1 ribbing with one twist (1/1 cross) each half every other round. Once I got going, I threw in that in the aqua stripes, I would repeat the first twist every other row to the end of the stripe. I think they’re coming out nicely. They certainly go fast - I usually end up with quite a few more stitches than this, both because the yarn is smaller and because my pattern stitch is more complicated.
