Making a fair isle flower pattern on the yoke. Working top down.
Size 32.5 might be too big given I’m working with thicker yarn and my gauge is a bit bigger. So I’m doing an in between size, let’s see how that works.
CO 132
Yoke set up: Increased 12 sts
Yoke increase 1: M1, k5 (28 increases, 172 sts)
Yoke increase 2: in white, after first fair isle section. M1, k6 (28 increases, 200 sts)
Yoke increase 3: in green after white fair isle section. M1 k7 (230 sts)
Yoke increase 4: in green at end of last fair isle section. M1 k8 (260 sts)
Sleeve separation: 50 sts for each sleeve, leaves 80 sts each side of body (180 sts on needles).
At end of bust section: 90 sts in the front; 80 sts at the back.
I might continue decreases at the back until ribbing section.
Knitted bust section to 5.5 in from armholes.
Reducing 7 sts twice because my waist is much smaller than my bust: k21, k2tg 7x, k20, k2tg 7x, k21; decrease 2 sts at the back (154 sts). Work 0.5 in in stockinette. Work twisted ribbing for at least 3 in.
Quicker way for twisted ribbing: twist the knit stitch, work the purl stitch as usual.
I could have done with 4.5mm needles for the main body.
Using 5.0 mm cubic dpns for sleeves.
Next time work a longer underbust section before ribbing.
Picked 14 sts from armpit, 64 sts in total for sleeves.
Halfway through the sleeve, a bit after the elbow (75 rows after armpit), change to 4.5mm cubic dpns and work twisted ribbing till the end.
When working twisted ribbing with dpns remember to bring 2 sts forward to prevent laddering.
31/01/18 woohoo it’s finished!!! It will look perfect with my high waisted pants! But next one needs to be a bit longer. Pics of finished top to come!
