Would like a wider and longer scarf.

Aug 16: Cut and pasted half of outer motifs on each side. I now have an 84 stitch pattern plus the ribbing on each side. I will likely get a scarf about 10.5 inches wide. Shall work about 7.5 vertical repeats to get a scarf about 60 inches long.

Calling this Autumn Garden rather than Leaves. Just looks more floral to me than leafy, especially with full flowers at each side.

After working rib of 10 rows back and forth I set up 10 steek stitches so I don’t have to work stranded knitting from wrong side. To me the joy of colour knitting is watching the patterns emerge. Can’t bear to see this only half the time.

I am working orange as well as yellow into my palette so the piece will work with my bright orange fall jacket. Because of the steek my pics will be partial until scarf is complete.

Aug 18: About 9” up including bottom border.

Oct 19: This was put aside as I was caught up in Merry Christmas to Me, which is now complete. Can likely complete this now before the club 6 Tapestry project gets going. Now have 17” including rib. Just a bit more than an inch into 3rd repeat.

Tension check: About 8 sts and 8 rows per inch. This means I will need 8.5 repeats for a 60” scarf.
Oct 23: 3rd repeat complete. (Each vertical repeat is 56 rows)
Oct 25: Couldn’t stand the suspense so today I cut open the first couple of feet of steek and stitched it down. I lightly misted with water and left it open under a heavy towel overnight. Today I can finally see the full pattern. Looks like it should work out. I am not doing anything fancy on back. I set up 2 purl stitches for work to turn on then an 8 stitch steek.
The width is actually 12.5”.
Oct 31: Four reps complete. I am thinking this is now half done.
Nov 3: putting aside for a short time to work on my Knitwitch Cloak
Nov 17: Back to complete this just one repeat plus a few rows to go. Just realized Marion Schlenzka’s pattern not connected. Wasn’t coming up in database because the 2nd ‘U’ was omitted from Marion’s pattern. I have the link established now.
Nov 17 later… all knitting done. Will finish stitching steeks tomorrow then block. Will also add final measurements and stitch gauge.
Nov 19: now all blocked and steeks stitched down.
Final blocked dimensions: width 11” Length 53”
