Notes

I like this although I plan to change colours a bit. Want to use a few of Marie’s latest colours. I plan to change the drop shoulders to set in sleeves and work my preferred V-neck. Also long sleeves and corrugated rib on body and sleeve cuffs. I may use a different rib at V-neck. Will work in the round not flat.

Sept 1:Tired of Waffles so taking a wee break between sleeves. I cast on 372 sts and worked 2.75” of corrugated rib. Started with 3.25m needles but seemed big so I changed to 3m after a few rows. Is fine on my hips; possibly a hair loose. No worries.

I want extra length so I plan to work the pink/teal motif to start but in darker tones. Don’t want a bright stripe at my hips.

Sept 2: Rib done and I switched to 3.25m needles and decreased the 2 extra stitches. My first section coming along nicely.

Sept 3: First motif done and I like it. My tension is bigger than expected. Changing to 3m needle. The next couple of sections will follow pattern more closely.

Sept 5: Moving on up

Sept 12: Body is complete, shoulders joined with 3 needle bind-off, steeks felted and cut and stitches picked up for my deep V-neck. I want an all blue ‘fancy’ rib for neck and I am considering options…

Sept 13: Neck Note: Wanted a deep V-neck so started 2 rounds before underarm cast-off for sleeves. I worked neck decreases on each side every 3rd round. I picked up a lot of stitches around neck; 195 in total. (13 ea side of shoulders 65 ea side of V, 1 centre st from pin and 45 back neck sts reduced to 41) worked a centered double decrease at centre front V on every round.

I worked a twisted faux cable rib on 2.75m needles. (K2, P1 tbl, K1 tbl P1 tbl around. Every 3rd round on the K2, k into 2nd st leaving on left needle, then k 1st st and remove both)

All steeks were felted before I cut neck. The neck and back steeks are stitched down and ends darned in. I soaked it and spun in washer (inside a bag) and now it is drying. Pics later.

I am very happy with colours. In particular I love the Acer (wine) with the Corncockle (pale blue) and the Ocean with the Willow (gold)

Now I must go back and complete Waffle sleeves before Bessyboot sleeves.

Sept 30: Should be starting sleeve cap for 2nd sleeve later today. May not have much time for this tomorrow but may finish Sunday. Block sleeves Sunday night. BTW I started sleeves with 60 sts for ribbed cuff. I could have used 64 for corrugated rib on 3m.

Oct 1: Completed 2nd sleeve and sewed it in. All done except to add final measurements and calculate yarn used. Now I am all ready to start Ted’s Glenridden, which should arrive this coming week.

Measurements:
Note: This sweater looks much better on me than off. I started working XL on size 3.25m needles, switched to 3m early and decreased a lot of stitches as well. Now I have the perfect pear shaped sweater. Next Marie sweater I shall start with L not XL.

Hips 46”
Waist and all the way to top: 43
Sleeves to underarm: 18” (generously long)
Length: 24”
Upper arms: 15 3/4”
Armscye was 9 1/4” before I inserted sleeves.

I tried on frequently as I knit and knew it would look fine but I must try harder with tension.
