This will be 4th Bolan because it is the perfect summer knit. It is easy to knit, easy to alter and easy to wear. I am actually using specified yarn, Sparrow, this time instead of Euroflax but I may dye the finished garment. Not following the gauge or sizing suggested because I like Sparrow on a smaller needle. This is knit sideways so will just knit til it fits. I will add exact size and tension notes when complete.
I may put in short side slits at the bottom sides.
I cast on 128 stitches to start. The side 3 needle bi d-off seams are 90 stitches. (Less side slits at bottom) I will work 10 complete10-row lace repeats and just 2 complete repeats for sleeves, binding off row 10 of 3rd repeat.
June 3: One quarter done. First half of back compete and stitches picked up for other half. Would like to finish quickly so I can dye it and take with me June 25.
June 7; First half done.
June 10: 3/4 done
Jun 13: All knit and side seams in. Presently blocking before I stitch the lace panel at the top for the shoulder seams.
I left small slits below side seams. I worked a two-stitch applied I-cord around them. They still wanted to curl back to sides so I crocheted close around I-cord and now it seems stable.
June 14: Shoulder seams are complete and it fits. It has less ease than pattern seems to suggest but that is the way I like this design.
June 15: Fingers crossed, I am going to dye it, hopefully a sort of aquamarine…
June 16: So here it is in New colour. Will lighten a little as it drys but I am quite happy. I used about 2/3 bottle of Rit Aquamarine combined with almost half a bottle of Teal. I thought it might have gone greener starting from yellow, but happy it didn’t.
Final measurements after seaming and wet blocking:
46” around so I have 2” ease
length is 21.25”
