Notes

Note: Actual measurements at end of these notes.
July 10: My swatch of 2 pattern reps, 44 stitches, is 8”’ so 4” per rep. Clearly my Ecoknit is considerably larger than the specified yarn. No worries.
Pattern suggests 3.5” per rep. If I work 2nd size, 6 reps ea front and back my pullover should be 48” (12 × 4) Also pattern suggests 1595 yds required for 2nd size. I have 1691 yds so should be OK for yarn. Will be great to finally use this lovely organic cotton. Have had it for about 25 years.
July 12: Over half way through first 48-row rep. Tension seems on track for a 48” pullover. Row tension looks like 6 1/8”versus suggested 5” per vertical repeat. This may work out making the second size. I will be 14.875” at end of 2nd rep instead of 15.5”.
July 20: Back is complete and rib cast on for front
Aug 4: Front is complete to underarm. Have decided to try a V neck so put centre stitch on a pin same time as I added underarm extra stitches. I worked in a second ball of yarn and worked both sides at once decreasing one stitch at neck edge every 3rd round for V.
Aug 6: Front complete and seems OK. Seamed shoulder seams together and picked up 91 stitches for one of the sleeves. (This is stitches for 3rd size.)
Aug 7: picked up 174 stitches for my V neck, plus 1 on the pin so 175 stitches. Worked K2, P2 knitting into back of K stitches. I did 6 rounds then cast off using only K stitches.
As I commence sleeves I have 237G, or 8.4 ounces of yarn left. I usually think 33% of yarn required for long sleeves, and I only have 28% left. However, the top of the sleeves are already knit as a cap sleeve from the body so I may squeak through. If not, 3/4 sleeves will work just fine. I will set up 2nd sleeve and work down on each so they will be same length.
Aug 11: No worries re yarn quantity. First sleeve done except for rib. Other sleeve needs a repeat and a half before rib. Still have 4 balls. Yay. Should be done in a couple of days.
Aug 12: Worked both sleeve cuff ribs, using twisted K for K sts only and cast off only in knit. Knitting now complete and looks quite good. Must soak and block. After that I will add final measurements and a pic.
For seams I separated and discarded one of the four strands of cotton to reduce bulk. Worked fine.
Final Measurements, soaked, blocked, dried and relaxed:
Circumference: 46” (no shaping at waist)
Length: 21.5”
Sleeves: Dropped sleeves are 15 1/4” including 2.5” cuff
Bottom cuff to bottom cuff (through back) sleeve length is 61”

July 2020
This sweater tends to slide down my shoulders showing bra straps. I unraveled the band back to pick up row, put needles through loops with 3.25m needle, and on first round I knit or purled extra stitches together before and after the shoulder seams so that I had 148 stitches plus centre stitch for 149 in total. So shoulder area was reduced by 13 stitches on each side. Nothing in previous note about needle size for neck rib so I probably stayed with 3.5m needle. Now the reduced count at shoulders and the overall reduction using 3.25 not 3.5m needle solves the problem. Shoulders and neck now stay in place and do not stretch down off shoulder when I wear it. That is always a potential problem to be wary of with a deep V neck, especially with vegan yarns that tend to lack elasticity. Keep in mind with the Platinum piece currently in progress.
