I want a long sleeved top, not sure of neckline yet. Will use same modified motif that I used for the T-Shirt. Must make this a little larger so it will actually fit me. Therefore all the charts must be reworked. For the record I did a 43-stitch, 25-row tension swatch, but my swatches never work out. Based on the swatch I will work a sleeve first, cuff up, starting with 2.5m needle and 72 stitches for corrugated rib. Then I will change to 2.75m needle and start knitting motif. As this progresses, I hope to prove or disprove my tension swatch. I will adjust chart for size as requi6red based on sleeve tension. I will stop sleeve at underarm and knit the entire body. Once body is knit I will have the required data to design and knit the sleeve cap. Then of course, knit a second sleeve to match first.
I have a slightly different colour palette for the foreground colours, but still Handmaiden Sea Silk. Background will again be Lisa Souza Silk Camel in Anna Blue. I plan to randomly use up the ends of the natural and apple blossom left over from the T shirt.
Oct 29: Working with 2.75m this time, not 2.5. and after 3” of knitting looks like tension is 9.2 sts=1” and 9.3 rows = 1”. Will keep checking as I go. My arm fits into the sleeve opening OK.
nov 2: Starting nody based on tension I am getting with sleeve. Will start with 284 stitches for corrugated rib on 2.75 needle.
Nov 10: So body setup seems to be OK. The slog of rib is done plus 2” of pattern. Looks good. Have started to nibble away a few stitches at each side for waist shaping. Also switched to 2.5 needle after about 1” of pattern. Will go back to 2.75m after waist.
Nov 14: Just 1/2” from waist
Nov 17: Now 9.25” from beginning and it is looking good.
Nov 20: 11 3/4” and counting.. Starting armholes at 15”.
Nov 25: Should finish to underarm today
Nov 27: almost finished left front
Nov 2i: finished left front; starting right front
Nov 30: Front is knit. Working up the back.
De c 2: Main knitting complete for body. Still needs neck rib and shoulder seams.
Dec 4: Shoulder seams and neck rib complete. First sleeve almost at underarm castoff.
Dec 7: Finished first sleeve and did a quick temp baste to test my sleeve cap. Seems to be fine. Shall now block body and sleeve and commence second sleeve.
Dec 10: Body and first sleeve blocked and dry. First sleeve sewn in. Sleeve fits body and sweater fits me. Now just one more sleeve..
Dec 13: Second sleeve 4 “ from underarm castoffs.
Dec 17: Knitting is done. Second sleeve is blocking. Very soon… (Meanwhile I have that vacant post project feeling)
Dec 18: Second sleeve in. All done; looks good. Just need a decent pic.
I used some of the leftovers from the T-shirt project as well as new yarn purchased for this, although I still have quite a lot left over. It looks as if I used about 1000m of the three different Anna Blue dye lots and a total of 960m of the various light foreground colours.
Size after blocking and sewing together:
Body Length: 24” including rib
Sleeves 18 1/2” including rib (fit snug or would be too long)
Bust: 43”
Waist 38”
Hips 40”
