Used: 4mm black reflective UV resistant Paracord (hopefully will withstand triple-digit summer heat & direct sunlight).

If you live in a climate w/less intense sunlight, you might use #21 tarred twine. Others are using US size 70 circulars.

On US Size 80 circular needles,
Cast on 23 sts and knit 1 row
Then, click first photo to proceed using chart.
Even rows are purl

Rows 1-12 form pattern. Repeat for desired fence size

In words:
Cast on 23 sts, knit a row. Then:

Row 1: K2, yo, k2tog, yo, k2, k2tog, k4, k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2tog, k4

Purl all even rows, including Row 12

Row 3: K3, yo, k2tog, yo, (k2, k2tog) twice, k2, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, k3

Row 5: K4, yo, k2tog, yo, k2, k2tog twice, k2, yo, k5, yo, k2tog, k2

Row 7: K5, yo, k2tog, yo, k2, k2tog, k4, k2tog, k2, yo, k4

Row 9: K4, yo, k3, yo, k2, (k2tog, k2) twice, yo, k2tog, k4

Row 11: K3, yo, k5, yo, k2, k2tog, k2, yo, k2tog, k5

Row 12 and all even rows: Purl
Repeat rows 1-12 for the desired fence length.
