Notes

I was looking at the hat after I finished knitting it and asked it what would you like to be called. I am pretty sure it answered back as oil and water. The two fiber types, and their respective colors added to my conviction that this hat could have no other name. Also I have been using this concept of solubility a lot recently in an attempt to isolate certain plant chemicals. So the concept has been on my mind.

Project notes (incase you were curious about the creative process)
Using left over yarn from other projects. Both were so beautiful I wanted to use them up. It is a fusion of material types, silk and cashmere and I have to say this may be my favorite hat, it is soft and warm, it has enough room for all my hair even if I put it up inside the hat.

I am making this up as I go.

I cast on 140 stitches using a stretchy cast on (I don’t remember the name)

Then k2p2 across the row. Plan to continue for several inches. After I was happy with the length then I k every row for a long time, and at regular intervals decreased until I only had 5st left and then bound off.
