Handles are waistcoat stitch with lining inside to prevent stretching. I made the top of the bag extra long with sc and folded that down to cover how I stitched the lining and handles together. Added a magnet at that point as well.

After a beach vacation I can say now that even stuffed to the brim this tote does not stretch and the handles are still perfect! 10/10, will make again!
