After a long break due to arm and muscle problems, I decided to try crochet again, but only smal and modular projects. And then this came along…..
Since i will be receiving a new grandson any day now in the next three weeks, i decided to make it for him, so i did a little more then might have been wise, but I’m still okay.
The cone of brown was not new, so i came a little short for the border; new yarn was ordered, so i hope to still finish it in time. I will weigh the blanket when finished, to establish if one cone of each will indeed be enough, or will need more of the dark colour.
Squares are 21x21 cm, but I finished every square with a row of hdc, making them 22x22 cm.
Joined them with a zipper join in the same color.
I am lefthanded so initially did all the blocks by the lefthanded instructions. Since I wanted 24 blocks, I also did ask the right handed versions, which turned out mirrored.

I was initially going to finish this project with a simple border, but I simply loved the paws-border the designer made for the overlay version, and she wrote it in Interlock for me. 16 riows around, but worth every stitch.
The first row was a bit hard, inserting in the yellow layer and adding an extra stitch in between squares to even it out, but from there it works like a charm. I created my own handicap by giving every square a hdc border before joining. If you want to make the blanket with the fancy border, I recommend finishing the squares with a sc border only.
