Although it is not a design I would have picked, I could not resist the challenge testcrocheting this pattern. It will be my first really big project in interlock, and I just hope I’m up to it by now.
There was not enough in my stash for this project, so I bought two large skeins, but the choice of colours was minimal. So, red and beige it is.

Halfway the pattern, but over 3/4 of my yarn. Luckily I only had to visit two stores to find more. Probably only need about 1/5 of these giant skeins, but I can handle a little extra stash ;-).
So far the pattern is flawless. If the stitches don’t add up, it’s because I made a mistake.

Finished the pattern as far as written. Currently waiting for the border pattern.
So far I’ve used 573 grams of red yarn, 648 grams of beige, and knit companion registered 45 hours. Total weight of blanket without border : 1221 grams.
427 grams of red and 352 grams of beige left, hope that is enough for the border.
Size without border : 105x127 cm.
2700 meters total.

The border took me two days, and most of the rest of my yarn, which is perfect. And it looks amazing. You would not think from the picture, but the border is actually almost a quarter (!) of the entire blanket.
Now I have 100 grams of beige and 200 grams of red left. Total amounts used : 900 grams of beige and 800 grams of red, total weight of blanket 1700 grams. Which means the border took another 500; almost a third of the weight. Blanket was done in (180) rows, border in 18 rounds (which equals about 60 rows).
Size with border : 125x147 cm
