Notes

I made a pair in Mom size to start (shoe size women’s 9). Tried them on son, JR, (men’s shoe size 10 1/2) and he wanted his even snugger so I cast on the same 60 stitches but went down to size 1 needles for his.

After making the red strips at the cuff, and these two skeins matched more closely, so they are pretty much matched until the corner where the heel turns. On the first one the red came out where the heel flap joins the short rows. The other one has about a quarter inch of red on the heel flap before the turn. Not too bad!

The bottom photo shows one sock inside out because the texture in the rib might be interesting to use. The rib is K2P2 for two rows alternating with two rows of plain knitting. The extra purl bumps on the inside could show off a painted yarn nicely.

I may have used part of one skein before because I needed to splice in a small amount to finish among the toe decreases. The second sock had extra yarn left over.

I knitted them both taller and longer than the Mom pair.

He said they fit perfectly!

PS: This yarn says it has aloe, but it’s still a little scratchy. It also stretches out when worn, so it works best to dry it in the drier after washing to make them fit again.
