The 2nd FO photo -- I’d been wearing my new sweater all day long, hiking, and putting on/taking off a coat, so it’s gotten a little misshapen-looking in a way it’s not, really. It’s a wonderful sweater!
The yarn was great to work with, kind of heavy and luxurious. After multiple wearings, it’s still looking brand new.
mods:
I did an extra set of waist shaping rounds to accommodate my shape, and made the collar 1” smaller than the pattern (i.e., 5” instead of 6”) because I wanted more of a cowl than a Peter Pan-ish collar. To help it hold a cowl-ey shape, I bound off with my regular tension instead of a loose one. It’s really lovely this way, and easy to wear.
I had absolutely no problems with the pattern, which was clear and straightforward. I did use a smooth yarn to assemble the sweater, as Amy recommends, and it was actually much easier to do than I’d thought.
9/29: body and sleeves finished. REALLY FAST PROJECT! Assembly and collar left to do when I get home. I put it on and pinned the seams and sleeves and it’s a gorgeous fit and a luscious fabric. I can’t wait to wear it.
9/27: body finished! Just one sleeve to go, assembly, and the cowl collar. Probably won’t finish before I leave for Vietnam on Thursday. :(
9/24: This is the fastest sweater I’ve ever made/I’ve made it the fastest, whichever. One sleeve is finished and I’m dividing the front and back.
9/17: I started with the sleeves! Just adore the fabric this yarn makes.
queuing it up, ready to swatch! whee! first, though, the math(s). this one’s going to FIT.
swatch details, size 7 needles:
19sts = 4”
28 rows = 1”
(pattern gauge: 18 sts & 26 rows = 4’’)
high bust: 36”
full bust: 37 3/4”
now to figure out which size to knit. I love the drapey fabric with these needles.
