The size I made is for a newborn 3 months. I added a bigger size to the pattern I sell on ravelry. You can easily adjust the length of the sweater in adding some inches to the strips.
Here some helpful hints:
On the RS I always slip the first stitch of the row as if to purl (with the yarn in the front). On the WS I always knit the last stitch. This creates a nice selvedge st which makes it much easier to pick up stitches for joining.
