My first pair of gloves. :)
Note: If you are new to twisted stitches/cables, I highly recommend that you practice cabling without a cable needle. It will knit up so much faster that way. It’s only a 2 stitch cable with twisted stitches. Very easy.
2 Sept - Chart 1 is done for the right glove. This went remarkably quick. It helps to knit cables without a cable needle. This yarn really shows off the tiny cables. The color of Old Lace looks like a light purplish gray. Under certain light, it looks more pink. I used size 0 needles for Chart 1. I’m switching to size 1 needles for Chart 2. I think I need more room for the hand part. I like the snug fit on the cuff.
4 Sept - Chart 2 is done. I might have continued using size 0 needles, but I was afraid it would be too small. It’s a bit roomy. I think if I had continued with size 0 needles, it would have been fine. However, I refuse to frog what I have already done. It’s easy enough to memorize the chart symbols, and then it becomes intuitive. Just a glance at the next line tells you what will come next. It’s been so fun knitting this. I hope I feel the same way with the second glove. I am horrible about knitting the next half of a pair (socks, mittens, etc).
Knitting the fingers now. I finished the index finger quite quickly. I’m using size 0 needles. I had to eliminate 8 rows so it wouldn’t be too long and to center the cable on my first finger knuckle. Now, if I can just keep up this momentum, I am confident I can finish.
5 Sept - Almost done with the fingers. Going very quickly. I am knitting each finger about 8 to 10 rows shorter than the pattern.
7 Sept - I’m finished with the first glove! I’m very happy with it.
11 Sept - I’m almost finished with the second glove. I am using size 0 needles throughout. It fits just fine so the difference in needle size didn’t affect wearability. Is that a word? ;)
13 Sept - This second glove moved along much quicker. However, my daughter’s birthday was 9/11 so I was busy with that, but I still found time to knit.
This was such a fun and interesting knit. I think I need to knit all of my single skeins of Plucky Feet into gloves! It took less than one skein to make a pair. The leftovers will be used for my far-into-the-future leftover stranded project.
