Rachel said yes to my offer of a wedding shawl. Yippy!
Now we need to sit down and decide on everything about it!
Held yarn doubled!
Okay, the start of this shawl is hard! Very hard! The picot CO is difficult! I had to start over about 6 times. I’m not a stupid person, and I have knit a few Romi’s, but this CO totally stumped me! I finally got it, and it looks great, but boy, it was a hard to get going!
However, I did make one change. I CO 3 stitches for the picots, not 2. (My yarn!)
After the patterned 6 repeats of Chart B, I have 120 grams left of the first 2 ball of yarn. (remember, I’m holding the yarn doubled)
After 7 repeats, I have 92 grams left.
After 8 repeats, I have 59 grams left.
After Chart C, I have 24 grams left.
Balls 1 & 2 ended on row 9 of the 1st repeat. Ball 3 has 114 grams, and I split it into 2 balls
After Chart D, (Which I did only once) I have 98 grams left.
After Chart E, I have 75 grams left.
After Chart F & BO, I have 62 grams left.
Notes: Rachel and I talked it over, looked over a whole bunch of my shawls, and she come to some decisions.
She liked something of each, “Vinorina” & “Seigaiha” by Kitman, and “Reflection & Refraction” by Kimberly Golynskiy
1) She likes the triangle shawl shape
2) She likes the Faroese style
3) She likes patterns
4) She likes the pattern to be more solid, with little to no open lacework
5) She wants a medium size shawl with a little weight at the bottom
6) She liked sock or light sock weight yarn
7) She does not want a “flower” pattern
8) She does not want a “mohair” yarn
9) She is okay with leaves, but the pattern needs to be just right for it to “fit” her
10) She prefers the more “earthy” look of wool to the “ shine and slick” look of silk. But mixed was fine
11) She will need to decide about beads after the pattern is picked. (she decided beads weren’t her)
