At the transition after the first triangle, NOTE rows 2,3 & 4 say “K1 tbl 2 times, brackets are missing it s/b

K1 tbl (2 times) most confusing, and caused me to mess up, grrrrr!

Another annoying thing. Had I been more on the ball I would have noticed this straight away - why are we not making 1 right and make 1 left each side at the point of this first triangle? It would look so much better. I’m angry with myself for following along blindly and angry with the pattern being ambiguous in parts (why miss out so many stitch counts??) and this blooming k1 tbl 2 times I discussed earlier.

Honestly, I expected to knit along to this without having to think too much because of it being more for beginners. I was meant to have a relaxing, easy knitting project to come to between my fairly intensive Rouxbe Professional culinary course. It’s making me cross these details are not written in.

23 May 2018

Decided to add a lace edging. I have selected a simple one called The Brand Iron Edge from my Heirloom Knitting - A Shetland Lace Knitter’s Pattern & Workbook by Sharon Miller.

Before working on the knitted on border, I did 4 rows in C6 (ivory in my case) on row 3 of this I did an entire row of K2 tog, YO, to give a row of decorative holes.

This has gone quite quickly considering I have been working on my cooking course so intensively and just knitting a wee bit on an occasional evening. The course is now finished, top-grade for me out of 54 students from all over the world, hurrah! Now I can get back to my beloved knitting. I am pleased with the soft feminine colours and the alpaca is soft and fluffy.

I have now calmed down after my initial outburst, apologies. An easy knit. I have blocked out too hard, I would like this smaller and not so open, will rewash and block smaller at some point.

A good fun project.

Having just uploaded the finished pics of the shawl on Dorothy my dummy, which, incidentally have come rather washed out looking, must have been odd lighting, decided I could look at the harsh blocking no longer and have now soaked again and spread out to dry in less harsh manner. Will upload more photos when dry. I really wanted this to wear round my neck rather than as a shawl & my first blocking has made the whole thing too big.

Picture 5 shows the shawl after re-wetting without blocking out, I just spread it out neatly and it fits round my neck better now.
