Notes

Start Day: 26th August 2014

After some swatching, Moss stitch is giving 15 stitches to 10 cms, am holding 2 strands of yarn together, one of the Aztec with alpaca & one of the fine kid silk. As I am using up bits a pieces of the kid silk, I am using the darker on the lower half, merging to the pale Rowan nearer my neck, & the arm extension can be in the darkest of the 3, which is Party Angel.

04/09/2014:

Thrilled to bits with finished result, have already bought several batches of diff wools to make this in other colours. I hope you can see the lovely soft fuzzy halo the kid silk makes & also the alpaca adds to this, I just love that soft look in my garments.

So cosy & comfortable, though I notice it has slipped off my shoulder a little in the pics, perhaps my gauge shifted a bit & I have a bigger than medium end result causing this. Now I have the hang of the pattern, further output should be a breeze. Sally was extremely helpful when I contacted her with a query about picking up the left arm stitches. Can’t praise this design enough, great fun to knit, lovely to wear & a super unique design.

If it helps you to gauge size, I am a UK size 10, & am 5 feet 3 inches tall. And yes, my daughter has already pointed out the lampshade hat I am wearing! Personally, I was looking at the knitting.

05/09/2014:

Final note: I have taken a gauge swatch on the end garment today & note that I get 13 stitches to 10 cms (4”), I made the size medium following the instructions for 15 stitches to 10 cms! However, I have somehow or other ended up with a garment which is the size I like. Perhaps using the various brands of kid silk has been an issue for this discrepancy, as I only swatched with the Rowan. I will take more care with my swatch for the next L’enveloppe I make, the swatching for which, is under-way already. Please note this is not any fault with the pattern, but entirely down to my inaccurate gauge swatch.
