It is so difficult to capture the true colour of this beautiful yarn, it is the colour of seawater over a white sandy bottom…… perhaps I should reword that! a white sandy bottomed beach…. as you might see in the Maldives or Outer Hebrides here in Scotland - can you believe they have discontinued this yarn colour here in the UK! :( It is much more sea green than the turquoise hue my photos would appear to show.
Actually I have just viewed this on my Android tablet and the colour comes out exactly as it looks! Not so on my HP computer! I must remember this when choosing wool colours online in the future.
Gauge: 20 stitches and 24 rows with 4 mm needle.
I am making this in large, although I am a UK size 10, I like my sweaters for casual wear to be big and sloppy.
I do not know how this has happened but I did the neck with 4 mm DPNS and then have been using my Addi long lace needles in 4.5 mm to knit the body! I have discovered this half way down the body. Oh well, it will be a sloppy sweater, which is what I wanted.
I fell in love with the simplicity of this design the minute I saw the advert for this new Craftsy class. It had a sort of retro feel to it, the 1960’s perhaps. Although I am not a beginner knitter, this is my first adult sized top down sweater, I have only knit bottom up in the round for adult sizes, but have enjoyed the knitting process of baby jackets top down and one can always learn something new from a Craftsy class too. I have watched the class right through once before I got started. The neck is now underway. A nice easy mindless knit to pick up between more complex projects.
22 May 2015:
I have been knitting this in between 3 lace shawls, if they get too complicated by late evening I pick this jumper up, hence it taking me this long, but I am having a push now as I want this finished for June. The neck keeps rolling down, I do hope it stays up once this is completed and blocked.
I used DPNS for the sleeves, as I love knitting with DPNS, I could not find any metal ones in 4.5 mm in my vast selection of DPNS - a recurring theme with DPNS, then you always find the ones you were looking for once newly purchased ones are opened and in use! . I love HiyHiya DPNS but 4.5 mm was sold out so I ordered Knitpro Karbonz to try, they had a horrid point to work with, it had a steep angle to the main body, though its shaft was pleasant enough. This did not make knitting the sleeves very pleasant. I wanted to stay with metal as the body had been done in metal. I will not be buying and more Karbonz DPNS, it’s HiyaHiya for me!

Thrilled to bits with the finished result of this sweater, very comfy & easy wearing. Made it longer in the body - instead of working until the body was 24” (for size large) I made it 26.5” (66.50 cms) then worked the final “2 purl rounds, knit 7 rounds, then BO”.
