4 year old Granddaughter is petite, but am taking others advice and sizing up. Making 5-6. Also using Alicia Paulsons tip and chained 12 instead of 1 under arm. On next row (5), I did 3 shells on those 12 stitches.

Wanted fewer buttons, found cute ones but not sure they’re practical. Guesstimated button hole placement, and did 2 chains for the larger mermaid buttons, and 2 HDC there in row 3.
Finished and pleased. Did not do ruffles. Made button holes, but she probably will never button the sweater so I’ll sew the cute mermaid buttons on. Added ribbon button band for stability.
Looks big for a 4 year old, but everyone said theirs was small so made the 5-6.
