Notes

Don’t let the description scare you. Yes, the instructions are in Italian, but they are also in English.

6/10--The instructions say cast on loosely,“ so I’m casting on with a 6 1/2mm needle. (I get to use the cute giraffe-topped needle for casting on that I haven’t used yet.) I’ll be knitting with a 6 mm (also new!). The pattern calls for a 5.5 mm needle, but my yarn is slightly thicker and I really want the openwork to show.

6/13--Messed up somewhere and ended up frogging the piece after about 8 rows. I cast on the second time with a much larger needle, a 10mm this time & that’s given me a much better edge at the beginning. Still using the 6mm for the body & it’s just the right size for the yarn weight. I’m in love with this piece & very excited to see it done. I know several people have said they prefer to work opposite to the pattern, but I like being able to practice my purls. So many lace patterns I find are just variations on knit stitches that this is a good change for me. I’m getting better and faster as I go. This project is definitely building my confidence as a knitter.

7/8--I just bound off but still need to block it. I’m in love. I’ve made it long enough that I can use it as a wrap or bunched as a scarf.
