Notes

Great lace project for beginners!

It’s a really straightforward pattern and basically all done in knit stitch (K1 and K2tog), but I’m having a bit of difficulty getting used to using my fingers in my work instead of using my wrists (like crochet). I’ll get there.

Depending on how far I get with the ball of yarn left over from the puff stitch hat, I may frog the hat to make sure this scarf is long enough. We’ll see.

2/20--I didn’t get far before I decided to frog it & start over. I wasn’t getting any sort of lacy effect because (obviously) this pattern and needle size is best suited to a finer yarn. I’m starting over today with a size 11 needle and I’ll see how that goes.

3/6--I’ve been passively working on it, a row here, a row there, but I’ve finally finished! I love this pattern and am vary happy with the results. I’m much less intimidated by the thought of knitting lace and I may even try a project or two using lace weight yarns. I did modify the pattern only slightly. I chose to cast on 15 so I would still have a finished product that measured about 5” wide. I stopped knitting when I ran out of yarn which gave me a finished length of about 48”, just long enough for fashion rather than warmth.
