Smaller size capelet version of the Dragon Poncho

Similar but different in a few respects:
Mal Rios has a smaller gauge than the Tosh vintage..

There are fewer reps both around and tall of the scales. And the chart is begun at a different rep split to accommodate the early dec transition palcements.

The color effect here was gotten with a straight ball changeover & not a true gradient effect as used on the poncho… I was curious if it would be disruptive or obvious w/o the fade but it’s very nice (the colors are very very closely related though)

45 g Teal Feather remnants (darker) used as 1.5 reps lower and 1 rep + BO upper scales.
100 g Reflecting Pool (lighter) used as center

To achieve a full DIY gradient effect as in the poncho use alternation of colors at paced round intervals
(L = Light/ D = Dark) explained below

~Work is done with a single yarn at a time.

~When trading colors cross yarns ‘old over new’ each time and remember to do them so the ‘runner’ is on the outside of the work (your item will be turned inside out when finished)

~Begin at the bottom with darker color and begin intervals roughly half way into height.

Intervals:

L L D L L D L L D = (2 L to 1 D > 3x)

Again the #of rounds shown above is from the larger poncho so adjust accordingly for the capelet… say 2x instead of 3x (gradient built across 16 rounds instead of 24)

This is a technique for fading/ombre/gradient: not hard and fast rules. So play around have fun!

Even with wide color difference this method works with these scales: the steep stitch angle blends the colors enough so no distinct visual stripes are seen.
