Just finished these socks for the hubby. Hubby likes longer legs on his socks than the pattern calls for, so I knit each sock from a ball of yarn to ensure I had enough yardage.

The leftover balls weigh 48 grams, so with a few less rows on the leg, I will be able to get a pair of socks for the hubby out of one ball - good to know right?

This yarn is a single ply of of colour changing yarn, plied with polyamide for strength. Being a single ply of wool yarn, it has a rustic appearance in that the ply might be thicker and then thinner in places. I decided to ignore this aspect and trust that Rowan, who I understand took two years to develop this unique sock yarn, knew what they were doing ! We shall see if my trust in them is justified.

Once the socks were complete….I gave them a bit of a steam press and my husband put them on to model them. I was going to wash them right away, but he refused to take them off :) so my report on washing will have to wait.

Ball band instruction say they can be machine washed on the gentle cycle, cold water - then lay flat to dry….so that is what I will be doing. I wonder if this dark indigo blue colour will bleed.

I love the Ickley pattern, as it is a basic stocking stitch sock, with a nice heel. I am not a fan of textural stitches on socks (personal preference) so probably won’t be sampling the other patterns in this introductory collection….but I do love the socks on the cover so I might try them :)
