Linked to Kroker for the inspiration from her music baby blankets.
We hung this at an Open House event with live music, and the musicians loved it. The trumpeter played the song.

July 2014
After I got the first set of colors home and took a photo, I decided to find more contrast in the color group. This is my lesson from this exercise. take a photo, even in the yarn store, and see how the colors appear on screen. I went back the next day and changed the red, the green and the blue.
This is the first time in a very long time that I purchased yarn for a specific project, other than filling an order.
Putting my math down here:10 mm hook. swatch 34 stitches = 13inches, 7 rows = 3 inches. Each row uses 130 inches of yarn. I can get 53 rows from one ball of yarn.
R: 139 rows
O: 50 rows
Y: 39 rows
G: 15 rows
B: 83 rows
I: 31 rows
V: 33 rows
White rests and splits: 73 rows
Black: between notes: 81 rows
Dimensions will be 52 inches wide x 45 inches long, plus joins and edges.
September 12/14: dimensions are 58x62 inches after piano and borders were added. Weight is 2 pounds 15 ounces.
