Notes

PLANNING

  • Yellow, red, green and blue yarn from stash
  • bought the white and orange

PROJECT

  • I’m not doing the body decreases because I want an oversized fit
  • I picked up 118sts for the neck instead of 96 because many people were saying it was a bit too tight. (back: 32st, sides: 36st, front: 14st)
  • Did green instead of orange for the bind-off of the neck because I liked it better next to the red

PATTERN

  • very well written and easy to follow
  • I was a bit surprised that the backwards loop cast-on method was used for the shoulders, but I decided to blindly trust the pattern and it turned out great and very neat.

NOTE TO SELF

I finished the rib and bind-off on the body and tried it on to find that the ribbing seemed very tight… This made the sweater bulk in all the wrong places instead of having the oversized look I went for. I felt demotivated and started thinking about reknitting the ribbing or even replacing it with a split hem later. I finished it, blocked it and the fit turned out exactly how I wanted it, with the right amount of oversize I was going for and no more bulking.

Blocking truly is the miracle work of knitting! Somehow I unjustly keep on having so little faith in the blocking process, even after all these years of knitting ànd seeing blocking doing its magic…
