First “official” lace project, with this really lush wild tussah yarn. The lustre is beautiful and the wooley texture really should work well for this kind of project.
Overall, I am very pleased with this pattern, it’s really elegant and it wasn’t too difficult to follow.
The yarn was a real pleasure to knit with as well. I am a beginner lace knitter, so I can’t handle anything too fine or too fussy. The tussah gives this shawl a gorgeous fuzzy halo and a subtle lustre.
Finished masurements:152cm x 82cm. Shawl weights 99gr.
Notes:
14/02:
OK, so the beginning was a complete train wreck! I had to start over 3 times, as I kept miscounting, or loosing stitches (most likely to missed YO).
So, 3rd time was a charm: I added stitch marker for each pattern repeat. Rows with S2KP before the repeat required moving the markers over by one. (1-9, 21-29, 41-49).
Markers were essential for me to keep track, as I am otherwise too distracted! I also counted after each repeat, to make sure I had the correct number of stitches.
Once I completed Part 1 (which took a little while), Part 2 knitted up really fast!
I have now completed the lace part of the shawl, and starting the stockinette part.
16/01
I finished the stockinette part, which took me a bit longer than expected.
Partly because there is something unclear on that part of the pattern:
When you slip purl-wise, you need to bring your yarn at the back of the work, otherwise you will get an unsightly line in front of your rib work.
Unfortunately, this was mentioned nowhere and I knitted a few rows, thinking it looked a bit odd but perhaps was part of the stitch. It wasn’t until after I decided to look closer at the pictures and stumbled upon another knitter’s identical complaint that I realized it was definitely an error.
Otherwise, the reduction in rows is quite pleasant, as it makes it impossible not to want to finish!

I wet-blocked this morning and didn’t bother with a string, just used small pins. The silk yarn behaved very well and nothing more was needed.

Just took the pins off, and it blocked beautifully! I ironed on med-hot, to give the tussah it’s full lustre.
