Joseph
Using ‘Needles’ light blue for his clothes and a ‘Carnival Soft’ cream for his headpiece. Scraps of brown yarn for his belt and headpiece.
I worked a round of sc around the headpiece;
Ch1, work a row of sc around the front edge of the headpiece – at inner corners (above face), work 2sc together. To turn the corner on the lower edge of the headpiece, work (1sc, 1ch, 1sc).
Baby Jesus;
Using skin tone and white yarn.
I added a row of reverse single crochet around the top edge of the manger. My crocheted ‘hay’ ended up looking a little like a bowl of spaghetti…..so I swapped it out for the real thing!
Mary;
Using skin tone, ‘Patons’ ‘Jet’ brown for her hair, pink/mauve and blue/mauve yarn.
Made as per pattern - I added a row of rev sc around the front edge of her head scarf.
Donkey:
Using Carnival Soft light grey and dark grey yarn.
Sheep
I don’t have any chunky textured yarn for the sheep, so where it calls for the chunky yarn, I used the white yarn held double and then brushed the sheep with a stiff brush to make it fluffy.
Black-faced Sheep
For black-faced sheep – I worked in dark grey up to Rnd 4 of the head, then continued in white or cream for the body. I also made the ears and legs in dark grey.
