Wise Men
I edited the pattern for Joseph to make the three wise men. I will be making them with different coloured clothes, crowns and gifts, but making them roughly the same size as each other - but slightly thinner and taller than Joseph. You could make the wise men the same size as Joseph…..be sure to add a few starting ch to your crowns and capes so that they will fit a bigger man. They are dressed in greens, orange/beige and purples - although it looks bright blue in the pictures.

Capes - I started with 16ch, worked 1 row of sc, then inc in the first st of every row until the cape was as long as I wanted it to be. Finished off with a round of reverse single crochet around - sl st across the neck/starting row.

Crowns -
Using 2.5mm hook, Ch 26, join with a sl st.
Work 1 rnd of sc into the back loops of the chain, sl st, ch 1.
1sc in same st, the work 1sc in main crown colour and 1sc in matching cape colour - repeat around, sl st with main crown colour, ch 1.

Tutorial for colour change here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8vtkK-_3Do

1sc in same st, sc in next st, (ch2, sl st into back of first ch picot, 1sc in next 3sts), picot, sl st, finish off.

Crown insert - to save my wise men from being bald…!
Using 4mm hook and cape colour, 6sc in a magic ring.
Rnd 1: 2sc in ea st around. (12)
Rnd 2: (1sc, inc) around. (18)
Rnds 3 & 4: sc around.
Finish off - stitch to inside of the crown.
I used the yarn tail from the start of the rounds - thread it up through the centre, then tie a couple of knots and poke the yarn back down through the centre again and secure it.

Donkey’s mane
Using grey, I worked a surface chain from the top of the head to the bottom of the neck, then ch1, sc back to top of head, finish off. I then joined black yarn at base of neck and worked a row of reverse single crochet back to the top of the head, finish off.

Black-faced Sheep
For black-faced sheep – I worked in dark grey up to Rnd 4 of the head, then continued in white or cream for the body. I also made the ears and legs in dark grey.

Star of Bethlehem
I made two stars and stitched them together. Lightly stuffed them and glued a twig into the bottom of the star.

Gifts
Bottle
4sc in a magic ring.
Rnd 1: working in back loops only 2sc in each st around. (8)
Rnd 2: working in both loops (1sc, 2sc in next) 4 times. (12)
Rnds 3 & 4: 1sc in each st. (12)
Rnd 5: (sc 2 together, 1sc) 4 times. (8)
Stuff the bottle.
Rnd 6: sc 2 together - 4 times. (4)
Rnds 7 & 8: 1sc in each st. (4)
Rnd 9: (2sc in next st, 1sc) 2 times. (6)
Rnd 10: (2sc in next st, 1sc) 3 times. (9)
Rnd 11: working in back loops only sc 2 together - 4 times, 1sc in last st, finish off. Close top of bottle by running yarn around the top and pulling closed. Either stitch a little knob onto the top of the bottle of sew a small bead onto the top.
If you want more definition to the base of your bottle, make about 6ch, sl st to join and finish off. Sew to the base of your bottle and sew in ends.

Round Gift
For the bottom half, I made a circle to the size that I wanted the box to be, worked 1 round of sc in the back loops only, then worked a further two rounds of sc.
The lid of the box I made in the same way but with a slightly larger hook so that it sat over the top of the base.
Lightly stuff the base and add the lid.

Square Gift
Made more or less in the same way as the round gift, I made a square - probably slightly more of a rectangle….made a base then worked up the sides. Make a lid in the same way and tie with a bow.
