Notes

Using baby blue, 70 foundation single crochet (fdsc), making sure that your starting piece is not twisted, sl st to join, ch2.

  • Work 5 rows of (1 front post hdc, 1 back post hdc), sl st to join at the end of each round, ch 2.
  • Work 3 rows of 1hdc in ea stitch around in white, then work 3 rows of baby blue. Alternate between 3 rows of white, 3 rows of baby blue for a total of 21 rows.
  • I worked another 12 rows and decreased 1 st in each of the first round of blue…then discovered this wasn’t enough of a decrease and couldn’t be bothered pulling it all out again, so….
  • From here, I decreased 2 times (once at the beginning of the row and once on the opposite side of the hat) in the first row only of each colour change - ie: first row of blue, first row of white. I worked another 27 x rows of 3 (81 rows).
  • Finish off you last row, then use the tail to gather the end closed.
  • Make a pom pom or tassle in white and stitch it to the pointy end of your hat and you’re done! :)

To make in smaller or larger sizes, just make your starting fdsc long enough to go around the head of the person that you are making the hat for, making sure that you have an even number of fdsc in your first row.
