See way below for more about the yarns I used.
Jan. 8, 2012: Yay, finished! I was very picky about the binding and redid a large portion of it yet again. So much for my provisional cast-on and avoiding a little seam, but the entire edge looks so much better that I’d say it’s worth it. I have a very happy little boy today!
Jan. 2: 4th try on the binding seems to be working well. I’m about halfway done with it, but we are in the middle of a heat wave (with no AC) and I am unable to have a hot wool blanket on my lap right now! Will instead focus on the Man Socks until things cool down a little.
Dec. 29: Got all the squares connected. Now for the binding. This could take a while! The blanket looks bigger than I expected it to be.
Dec. 22, 5:48 PM: Finished the last square!!!!! Now to let M decide on the final arrangement of squares, give them all a bath tomorrow (squares, not boys, though the boys could probably use that …), and start the sewing up! Wow!
Dec. 18: Yikes, still on #11. I’ve had to slow down because I’m potty training my youngest. I’ve been so tired from chasing the little puddle-maker that I can barely get other stuff done, then I’m too worn out for knitting during his naps! Very doubtful that this will be done by the end of the year now, but I’m enjoying knitting it. :-)
Dec. 14: Starting on #11 now! I just finished weaving in ends on all the finished squares. I asked the boy to lay out the squares how he might like them, but didn’t promise I’d use his layout. He came up with something better than my ideas! I’ll have to wait until I finish the last 2 squares to be sure if it will look right. All righty then, back to knitting. :-) Will I finish this before the end of the year?
December 9, 2011: Yay, zooming along on this project finally! Starting on square 9 (out of 12) today!
November 2011: Trying to finish square 4 by the end of the month and get some more momentum. I’d love to finish this blanket by M’s birthday in 2 months, but I’m not sure if I’ll succeed.
August 2011: Finishing up square 2 and starting on square 3 before the month is over. Looking great in bulky yarn so far!
Special thanks to my mom for gifting me this pattern.
