Notes

Blanket is unblocked in all photos. I need to wait for warmer weather to wash this blanket so that I can be sure it dries well enough.

July 28: Done!!! Pictures soon …

July 25: Finished sewing squares together. Starting on border!

July 19, 2012: Finished the last square! Now I have a lot of ends to weave in, and then the real work of joining the squares begins.

May 2012: Now I can finally get going on this! 4 squares done, 5th square started. Looking great so far! I love this yarn. :-)

December 2011: This blanket is on hold so I can finish the other one. Just wanted to make sure I noted that I’m using the smaller needles in order to get the same gauge with doubled DK City Tweed as I was with the HW yarn. I hope I can start work on this one again next month!

August 2011: The Chroma and Kureyon didn’t work out like I had hoped, so I will just do something else with those squares later. (Actually, my son adopted the soft Chroma square to use as “a blanket for my animals.”) I have switched entirely to City Tweed, 1 skein of my hand-dyed, handspun yarn and some leftovers of Sierra Aran, which is nicely heathered, also contains alpaca, and goes with the tweeds very well. I’ve started on the 3rd mitered cross square and hope to get going on a log cabin one next, just to see how it turns out.

I’m pretty sure the Sierra Aran leftovers are called Thistle, Fiddlehead Green, Autumn Maple, Garnet, and Chestnut.

I’m far away from my stash, so I got just a few skeins to make a start on B’s blanket. I intended to work on M’s blanket first, but can’t get to the yarn right now and don’t want to change a thing about the yarn choices for that one. So I’m going to experiment with the mitered crosses for B, since he wants some of those squares in his blanket and also some regular log cabin squares, and maybe stripes, too. Okay then. We shall see how this works out!
