Cape:

CO 36 sts. Holding metallic gold embroidery thread along with the yarn, K 3 rows in seed st. Cut gold thread and K one more row in seed st.

Switch to st st, except for 3 sts on each edge (this helps it not to curl). On row 5, dec 1 st at each edge, inside the 3 edge sts. Rep dec in the same way every 4 rows.

From this point on, I did not manage to take notes as I was knitting. I made neck decreases by binding off sts in the center and then I dec each side to 2 sts and made i-cord to connect them in front. It came out a little uneven for some reason, so I will have to figure out why for the next cape.

For the sword, I made i-cord on 3 sts and carefully inserted a toothpick before binding off. I snipped off the sharp end of the toothpick first. The belt is i-cord as well.

For the shield, I knitted 2 roughly triangular pieces, shaped a pipe cleaner into a triangle, then sewed the knitted fabric together around it. I should have found something much thinner, because the shield looks too much like a pillow, but I was in a huge hurry and didn’t have time to change that. 3yo lets his mouse use it for a pillow when he’s not fighting battles. :-)

I stitched some thin velcro on one paw and on the sword handle. This mouse is left-handed, just like my 3yo!
