Using Long Tail Cast on and on 5mm needles cast on 50 sts

Change to 4.5mm needles and knit 4 rows

Row 5 - knit 25 sts turn
Row 6 - GSR knit to end

The section which has no half rows is the neck section. The GSR section is the front and back.

Repeat rows 1-6 until you have 45 garter rows for the neck section.

Knit 2 more rows.

Next Row (RS)- using a 5mm needle and Icelandic bind off - bind off 25 sts, leaving 25 sts on the needle for the neck section.

Using 4.5mm needles again, knit these 25 sts until you have 10 garter ridges from the bound off section (20 rows) - end on a WS row.

Cast on 25 sts using the larger needle (I use cable cast on)

Now with the 4.5mm needle repeat the whole thing ending with the 10 garter ridges and a WS row.

Now you can either use Icelandic Bind off and sew the two sections together at the neck edge, Kitchener stitch the neck edges together or use a 3 needle bind off, making sure that the RS has a lovely garter ridge.
