Did this in a busy week and apart from the boredom factor at the start (I’m grateful that this was to be a slightly more cropped version than written in the pattern) I quite enjoyed it.

I changed the way the shoulder ‘saddles’ are constructed because it just looked messy but I’m not entirely convinced that what I did was ideal (slipped stitch pattern).

I also didn’t like the way the gilet was ‘framed’ at the end by just picking up stitches along the arms and then all around the front and neck so instead of the suggested pick up and knit and cast off, I crocheted a simple double crochet border (UK Terms) to keep everything under control.

My MIL liked it so much that she’s asked me to make another in Navy, which I have done with the same adjustments to the pattern as before.
