I found working out the measurements a little confusing with the ABC method so I just began, as suggested in the pattern with a magic ring and a chain 3 plus 9dc (USA terminology) into the ring.

I then did 8 increase rounds before going straight for 6 dc rounds, 1 sc round in second color, 1 dc round in main color, 1 sc round in second color and two final dc rounds in main colour.
