Notes

I made the wreath using the pattern Hampstead Wreath
by Wendy Baker and Belinda Boadene
Instead of using a Styrofoam ring or pipe lagging as suggested in the pattern I used a florist wreath wire ring purchased from a local Hobby Craft store for just £1. As I sewed the wreath up around the ring I used toy stuffing to fill. This soft filling made it easy to add the poppies.

For the poppies I used the pattern remembrance poppy
by jolynn13
I used a running stitch around the edge of the poppy to give them a more rounded finish. I left a long thread them to sew each poppy onto the wreath.

For the green leaves I adapted the pattern by Tina Egleton for the Poppy Appeal. I didn’t knit the ‘stalk’ and made the leaf smaller by using smaller needles and starting at the second increase.

Really happy with my finished Poppy Wreath for Remembrance Sunday 2017. I’ll be sending it down to Salisbury in Wiltshire for their Guild Hall Poppy Display.
