July 17 I’d forgotten how fast winding a warp can be! I didn’t change colour in this warp at all (used the Ancient Arts BFL in Twilight) and it only took 35 minutes to wind! Crazy compared to the three hours it took to wind the warp of my last piece!

The warp is solid because I want to keep the focus on the textural weft; a fine mohair (Parisienne), a dk-weight single ply silk (Tao), and a variegated fingering weight (Alegria) will be used together. I’m honestly a little nervous (but of course really excited) to play with texture in this piece, it’s something I’ve never explored before!

July 20 This is so much fun!! Despite the various weights of yarn, I’m keeping everything as close to 12 ppi as possible (the Tao sits more comfortably at 11 so I’m letting it do its thing, everything else is fine at 12) and I totally love the transparent effect that happens with the mohair more openly spaced. I want to play with transparency more in future pieces!

July 28 I really like the weight and sheen that the silk gave this piece! The shawl has a really lovely drape.
