Notes

CO using 50 sts with provisional cast on so I can use kitchener to seam at the end.
Brown Cow doesn’t really need another hat, but I’m in a knitting mood and I love working with bulky yarns.
I’m having trouble with the YF, K2TOG part of the pattern, but other users have said to just YO. We’ll see how it comes out.

Four pattern repeats in and I am really digging this pattern. I’m shooting for 17 repeats based on other users’ notes.

Got halfway through my pattern repeats before my eyes started crossing. I’ll finish this tomorrow evening. YO is working fine, and it’s easy to tell RS from WS: RS has two eyelets inside the welts, just like the pattern says. (Duh)

This pattern is so nice. I keep stopping after every repeat to squish it in my hands. So springy. As much as I hate purling, I love the way the reverse stocking stitch looks and feels. I will have to make more of these, just not right away.

I’m at 13 repeats and realizing I didn’t need to cast on 50 stitches for this thickness. Luckily, Brown Cow likes baggy hats. One more repeat tomorrow and then grafting the tube and making cords. I’m going with 3 stitch i-cord like other users, but I think I’ll do lucet weaving for my next go round with this pattern.

I still hate purling.

Done! I went with lucet weaving for my cords because it gave me an excuse to make a lucet fork. Yay, power tools! I used some scrap yarn from.my latest two hats to make the cords.

I definitely should have cast on less. This would be perfect for a giraffe and the cap is a little tight. BC’s head is smaller, though, so he’ll be fine. Plus, this yarn is really warm so he won’t need the hat that often.

He didn’t say he wanted a ponytail hat when we chose the pattern. It was only afterward that I found out that was his plan.
