30MAY2019

It’s 1 am and I’m tired of the shawl I’m working on so I’m casting on a new one.

This yarn reminds me of succulents and I’m very happy to be working with it.

I’m also pretty stoked about the row tracker. One page patterns rock!

Later, same date

I, like other Ravelers, ended up with not enough stitches for the K2Tog on the SECOND repeat of the Mesh pattern. My YO had jumped over the stitch marker the row before and I had knit the wrong stitch. I didnt bother tinking back, and instead did the following:

-When I got to the SM, I had 1 stitch before the marker and needed 2.
-I passed the stitch from left to right.
-Removed the marker.
-Passed another stitch from l to r (2 unworked stitches on the right needle).
-Put the marker back on the left needle
-Pass both unworked stitches back to the left needle and continue where I left off.

To prevent this in the future, I reminded myself that on the WS of the Mesh, the knit stitch will ALWAYS be worked into another knit stitch, not a YO. The YO should be after you have slipped the marker.
I hope this is clear for any other Ravelers who may see it.

Even later, same date (like, 11:45 p.m.)

This yarn has way more blue in it than it appeared to in the cake. It’s not exactly a color I think I’ll wear very oftwn, but I do still enjoy it. It’s easy to see, with the halo it has, why the colorway is “Cotton Candy.”
I’ve knit through the 3rd Garter repeat, which takes me up through row 72.

01JUN2019

I’m about to start my last big garter section today.
I’m really pleased with this pattern, though the part that makes it enjoyable (ease of memorization) also makes it tedious (repetition can be boring). I feel like I’ll probably do less mesh on the last pattern section, but I also tend to love a jumbo shawl. We’ll see where it goes!

Later, same date

Six rows left before the last mesh section and I had to join another cake (I actually lost a bit of the second cake so that I could match the color).
Each color transition is only lasting one row now. I’m excited to see what will happen with the colors before the end.

06JUNE2019

Repetition made me put this away and do a quick hat I’ve now decided to modify the pattern in the following ways:
Last Mesh Section: 8 repeats (Pattern calls for 16, with the option to do less for yardage concerns)
Last Garter Section: 9.5 repeats (Pattern calls for 1.5 repeats, so this will replicate the previous garter section with the Bind Off)

Currently, I have 4 Mesh repeats left. I. Can. Do. This.

COMPLETED, UPDATE

I ended up only doing six repeats of garter at the end (I was running out of yarn)

Honestly, it’s okay. I don’t like the colors; they aren’t as “succulent” as I had hoped and look way more like soft pastels. Not really my thing. I’ve decided to wear it until a stranger compliments it enough and then give it to them.

Update! This shawl is now owned by one of my favorite people from a diner near the Texas Renaissance Festival! She’s so lovely and I’m so glad she wanted it and it can be appreciated.
