Makenine and intswemodo #2
Preview knit for BT Homewear.
Quite a vintage sleeve and body shape. Love that it’s unisex pattern.
I could have knitted Size 1 (I’m between size 2 and 3, knitted 3 because it’s for my Mum). Please consider working a size down because there are really plenty of positive ease !!!
Shoulders: up to row 18 of pattern repeat 2
Body:
End of 6th skein = 4 pattern repeats done on body (+ collar)
Needed about 1.4 skein = 70 g for 1 complete pattern repeat (28 rows) on body.
End of 8th skein : body is 34cm from underarm (end of row 14 of 6th repeat)… then ribbing (16 rows + 4 tubular + sewn BO).
Ribbing set up as if to continue moss stitch, both in and out the cable pattern (so I add to make some decreases to match).
Neckline: one purl row before ribbing, one purl row halfway to mark fold.
Sleeves:
Need 2 skeins each (less than 3g remaining)
6 complete pattern repeats = from underarm / ribbing 20 rows + 4 tubular + sewn BO.
Note on Chart C for sleeve : when working shoulders the first and last k1 on each row is perfect to further pick up stitches for back and fronts between these k1 and the 2/2 cables. But it’s no more necessary when knitting sleeves in the round, so I added those stitches to moss stitch pattern for a better look.
This mean cable pattern repeat is 23 stitches wide ;)
Ribbing set up as if to continue moss stitch, so first row was p2tog, (k1, p1) to last stitch, k1 for me ;)
Body sides and sleeves mod:
Rather than k2 at BOR (or side marker for body), I changed for 2/2 CR (or CL).
Decrease rows worked as follows for sleeves (on a row where you don’t have to knit the 2/2 CL or CR): k1, ssk, work as established to last 3 stitches, k2tog, k1. Then decrease are totally invisibles.
Measurements on FO relaxed after blocking flat
A 135 cm (my bust size is 85 cm, but this will be for my Mum) / B 24 cm / C 34 cm / D 6 cm / E 18 cm / H 45 cm / J 42 cm / K 7 cm / L 53 cm
Tones is a wonderful yarn to work with and can be worn to skin. Love it !
