May 5th 2016
Finally finished and photographed. Could do with another blocking, to smooth out a slight bit of puckeriness, but I think that’s also from my knitting and due to stacking and such long floats throughout. And my perfectionist is probably getting anal about it. Now to wait for the return of winter to wear it.
You might just see a jumper, but I see a story. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I’ll begin…
I see an adventure in Bavaria, to visit the Wollmeise shop to spend some of the money I got from the ex when he left me.
I see my mother teaching me to knit as we sat on the sofa in 432 Haight Street, San Francisco, where I lived with two remarkable men.
I see stitches knit on trains up to London, on buses to Sudbury, of conversations with knitters I had never met
and will never meet again, sharing a love of a centuries-old craft.
I see stitches knit in AA meetings in Colchester, of being in a room full of love and companionship having found my way home again.
I see a wonderful date with an awesome guy and a visit to Loop in London where I first saw the Muhu book.
I see hours in meditation, escaping the worries of my mind to create something of beauty.
I see hours spent on Ravelry, chatting with friends I’ll never meet, but who helped kept me sane, who sent love and support when things got so dark.
You might see just a jumper, I see me, the crazy and colourful me. And memories to cherish forever.
