Gauge on 2 circular 3mm needles - 30 stitches, 42 rows per 4”.
Knit for a 49” chest measurement. Cast on 360 stitches. Knit twisted rib for 2.75” with smaller needles. Cast off 48 stitches for underarms (24 each side). 312 remaining.
Bottom of sleeve - Cast on for 82 stitches using smaller needles & knit twisted rib for 2.5”. Increase up to 132 stitches every 6 rows, then knit plain 30 rounds, then bind off 12 stitches at end of 30th round & 12 at beginning of next. Cast off 24 stitches for underarms. 108 remain.
March 3rd - Join sleeves to body - 528 stitches. Knit 26 rounds plain. Increase one middle of each arm section on last round for 530 stitches.
Switch to stranded - 37 stitches by 38 rows over 4 inches on 3mm needles - eliminates need for first decrease.
Due to my stranded gauge being smaller, I omitted the first decrease round called for in Budd’s directions.
