Part of the SF1Sock KAL for July & August - ‘A Splash of Color’. For some of us, this will be our first foray into colorwork.
Graf Ratz for the main color, bits of others for the fishies, to be determined once I start.
Mods - cast on 80, worked ribbing for 20 rows.
Played around with colours - Sultan & Türkise Markise didn’t read very well & the simple fish design became lost in the depths of Graf Ratz. Magnolie Light works much better, so I’ve frogged back to the beginning of the colour chart & will start them over later this month.
22/10/10 Have decided to frog these entirely & use the yarns for some holiday knitting. I really like the colours together & so will pick up again a skein of each when I can & restart these socks as they’re a fun knit. Hence they’re gonna hibernate until next year.
8/1/11 Wasn’t able to get a Graf Ratz on my trip to the WM store, but I picked up a Mme Souris instead, which I think will look as good, if not better.
25/2/11 Modfiied heel. Slipped one stitch from needle 3 to needle 2, leaving 39 stitches to be held for instep & 41 to be worked for heel flap.
Skipped the k2tog in the first row of the heel flap. Knitted 42 rows for 21 slipped stitches along the sides.
Heel turn - Slip 1 pwise, k24, ssk, k1, turn, slip 1, purl 10, p2tog, p1, turn & work rest of the stitches to turn heel, ending with 25 stitches on needle at end of heel turn.
Knit across 12 stiches, then with CC, start knitting in following pattern
CC k1 (MC k2 CC k2) 8 times, MC k1, CC k1, MC k1, whilst picking up stitches (as described in pattern, 21 slip stitches & 2 extra stitches picked up), then work instep stitches in established fish pattern, then MC k1, CC k1, MC k1, (CC k2, MC k2) 8 times.
Decrease until there are 41 stitches on the needles for the bottom of the foot (39 stitches remaining as maintained for the instep).
Work in pattern until foot is 2.5” short of necesary length and in the last row, decrease one stitch each side of the bottom of the foot (39 stitches remaining) in following manner - knit to last four stitches, k2tog, k2, work instep stitches, k2, ssk, knit to end of round, then cut CC yarn & leave a tail long enough for weaving in. 39 stitches on instep & 39 stitches on bottom of foot.
Toe - knit to last four stitches on bottom of foot, k2tog, k4, ssk, work across instep stitches to last four stitches, k2tog, k4, ssk, knit to end of round (4 stitches decreased). Knit one round even. Continue in above manner until 22 stitches remain on needles. Knit across 6 stitches & kitchener off.
April 30th - cast on for second sock.
