With the newest update to Kirby Star Allies came Gooey from Dreamland 3. Who couldn’t love such a squishy blue blob with a long tongue? My brother was very excited with this update so I decided to crochet him his favorite Dream Character. I used some blue that I had lying around and then I bought some Sassy Bear Comic round eyes just for Gooey. He couldn’t be looking better!
Since Marx was nearly done at the time of making Gooey, I decided to make Gooey be to scale. I looked at reference images to figure out the size of Gooey compared to Marx and I got nice results. Here is what I found as well as a reference picture that I drew.
Size chart of gooey compared to Marx. Note: Marx’s legs are not taken account because Marx never stands with both feet completely on the ground (or it is very rare).
- Gooey is the height of Marx plus the area where Marx’s hat separates (if Marx’s legs not taken into account)
- Gooey is about 1.25x wider than Marx’s body
- The gap between Gooey’s eyes is larger than the gap between Marx’s eyes
- Marx has larger eyes than Marx which span from one Gooey eye to the inner edge of Gooey’s other eye
- It takes more than 2 of Marx’s mouths to equal a Gooey mouth
- Marx’s ball is less than Gooey’s width spanning from one side of Gooey to the outside of the opposite eye
- Marx’s ball is slightly wider than Marx’s body
- Marx’s ball is about the same height as Gooey
- Marx’s ball is twice the size of the area from Marx’s bottom hat rim to the start of Marx’s legs
- Both of Marx’s eyes and the gap between them are equal to 1.25 of the ball’s width
